By now most of you have realised how quickly children grow out of fins or change their fins etc and quite often equipment is 'as good as new' but unable to be used any more.
.
In order to raise further funds for the Club we would like to start selling any second hand equipment which is still in good condition. All proceeds raised would go to help the Club purchase new equipment.
.
Could we therefore request that if you do have any second hand equipment that you would be happy to donate, could you please hand it direct to Jane Arnold or the session coaches so they can pass it on to Jane.

Tom Reed (along with 5 other masters swimmers) are attempting a relay swim across the English Channel to raise funds for the Kent Air Ambulance.

Tom is a masters swimmer for KASC, officiates at club Gala's and has two children swimming for the club.

We wish Tom all the best in his swim and if you would like to make a donation please click here.

Leicester Diddy League Final

I have been involved with Kettering Swimming Club since I was 7 years old and I can honestly say that I cant remember experiencing a gala quite like this one.  We went into this gala in fourth place not expecting to win the overall league but we did think with a strong team that we could win on the night, this being our aim. From the moment the swimmers came onto poolside you could feel the excitement. They looked fantastic with their new T-shirts on kindly sponsored by R F Blount Plumbing, and the parents really stood out in the crowd.  From beginning to end the swimmers were chanting, singing the atmosphere was electric. We were leading from start to finish with Coventry gaining in the end but we still won on the night by 15 points. We came away with 12 first places, a double individual victory by Sam Shiells 10yrs 25m Breaststroke and Freestyle, double victories also came from the 9yrs girls relay team and 10yrs girls relay team so really well done to those. Other victories came from Aiyana Lawson 9yrs 25m Freestle, Poppy Whitehorn 10yrs 25m Backstroke, Joshua Lloyd 10yrs 25m Freestyle, 10yrs Boys Medley Relay, 12yrs girls Medley Relay, Maisie Green 12yrs 50m Breaststroke and Kate Buckley 12 yrs 50m Backstroke who also broke the club record so really well done to all those swimmers. We followed these up with 14 second places which was fantastic. In fact we were very rarely out of the top 3 all night. Towards the end of the gala myself and Chris started to realise that maybe we could win overall as  Kimberly and Melton Mowbray who were lying in first and second place going into the final were lying in 4th and 5th the kids I think got wind of this and stepped it up a gear vocally and in the pool. I gave up trying to work out the points so when the final results came out that we were the champions I couldn’t quite believe it, Chris and I just looked at each other and laughed as before the final we had being trying to work out how we could win it and  thought it was  impossible but obviously not, I am sitting here now with the Trophy on my mantel ready to get it engraved. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the swimmers for whom this was their last year in the Diddies and over the years have scored many valuable points for Kettering, Maisie Green, Kate Buckley, Gemma Vaughan, Emily Wilson, Lauren Wykes, Adam Roberts, Michael Wenban, Daniel Young, Ben Oxford, Ryan Napier, thank you so much for your commitment to the club over the years. I would also like to thank everyone that helped on poolside Chris Mayell, Mandy Buckley, Sue Blount, Anne Wenban, Suzanne Tatton, Don Ward, John Harris and a big thank you to one of our senior swimmers who gave up two of her weekends to  help on poolside Emma Turner and lead the chants.

Well done again to all the swimmers that participated in either of the three rounds as it is a team effort over three rounds not just the final so every swim counts. Keep up the hard work and hopefully we can put up a good fight next year to try and regain the trophy.

Fastwater Trophy Gala

It was an unusual one as it was all down to times and not placings, we came second overall which was great as we came against a very strong Braunstone Team. Our 11/u boys, 15/u Boys and Open girls won their age groups overall and were presented with trophies for their achievements which was fantastic. 9 PB’s were achieved on the night which is encouraging especially as we are coming to the end of the season and the swimmers are getting tired. Massive thank you to Katie Wills and William Blount who swam after just recovering from illnesses and also Gina Lockwood who was swimming with an injured back, you would never have known they all swam fantastic. Also a big thank you to the swimmers who never seemed to be out the water having six or seven swims each and were all bang on their times each time, Maisie, Emma, Kate, Connie and Aiden (who also achieved a PB on his 5th swim) so really well done to them. Thanks to everyone that helped on poolside always much appreciated. Well done to the swimmers who once again gave 100%.

Premier Warehouse Trophy

Well done to everyone that swam and thanks to everyone that helped on poolside. We came 2nd in the end which was fantastic considering there were 14 teams competing, Braunstone A only beating us by 6 points. Two of our swimmers achieved 1st places overall Kate Buckley in the 13/u 50m Backstroke came joint 1st and Sam Shiells in the 11/u 50m breaststroke which was fantastic as she has another year in this age group so really well done to them two.  We also achieved 6 2nd places and 4 3rd places. 7 PB’s were achieved and 8 new club long course records which I have listed below:-

Kate Buckley 12yrs 50m Back

Katherine Warwick 9ys 50m Butterfly/9yrs 50m backstroke

Adam Taylor 17/over 50m Free

Callum Fitzsimons 13 yrs 50m Butterfly

Simon Mitchell 17/over 50m Backstroke

Maisie Green 12yrs 50m Butterfly

Leicester Diddy League round 2

I have attached the results of Saturdays gala. Couldnt really get much closer, we came first by just 1 point. We really needed to win this gala to stand a chance of making the final, hopefully we have done enough but if we dont at least we tried our best. There were some fantastic swims, 9 PB’s were achieved and 19 first places, double victories coming from Sam Shiells in the 10/u girls 25m brst and freestyle, our 9yrs girls relay team, 10/u girls and boys relay teams and the 12/u boys relay team. There were so many close finishes which we missed out on the touch. A special mention to Josh Blair and Harry Ayling as this was their first gala swimming for Kettering and both swam fantastic. I was really proud as the team spirit was really high all through the evening even when we thought we were going to get second the swimmers were still optimistic. Hopefully we will find out soon if we have made the final or not. I will be sending out the team selection for the final round which is on the 26th June this week sometime so keep your eyes on your emails. There may be some changes made as I do want to field my most competitive team if we make the final. So if you are not  chosen for the final round I would like to say a really big thank you for being part of the team. Well done to everyone that swam and thank you to everyone that helped on poolside.
